Group of concerned citizens meet to discuss historic church

On Tuesday, December 30th, a small group of concerned citizens met in Chanhassen to discuss further possibilities for saving the Historic Church of St. Hubert. The meeting was called by Jeff Burzinski, who wrote this recent article for Carver County Local News.

The group included representatives from the Carver County Historical Society and Chanhassen Historical Society, as well as other community members with an interest in preserving the church.

Burzinski believes there may be a path forward that would preserve the historic church while also easing the financial burden of St. Hubert Parish. Support from the local community and a more ecumenical approach towards restoration and potential future use are key.

Possible next steps include:

  • Determine available parking and pedestrian safe crossings
  • An estimate of restoration/construction costs
  • Explore feasibility of community wide capital campaign

The group will meet again this month to discuss further. We will continue to keep the community informed about plans for preserving the church. If you haven’t already, you can still add your name to our petition to show your support and receive updates on our progress.

Thank you for your continued support!
